Lucas Penner, a 2008 grad of Pen High, is coming back to Penticton from the Big Smoke of Canada: Toronto, ON.

He’s coming to lead workshops: two three-day sessions with the sole purpose of urging Penticton artists to create their own work; to bring writers, musicians, songwriters, dancers, poets and the like together to collaborate on a project; to create the ‘Left Bank’ of the Okanagan.

During his years at Pen High, as part of the last graduating class of the old Pen High building, Lucas was playing in bands, beginning to record his tunes and developing a taste for literature: he had a theatre background far inside of him, but that wasn’t to come out until later.

Penner had a hunger from early on to bring together artistic disciplines and create a very rich
audience experience.

This is exactly what he’s explored in Toronto after studying at the University of Toronto in the classical voice performance program, going to jazz master classes, studying acting in the George Brown theatre program, and finally co-producing, co-writing and music directing two shows with his Dead and Lovely Collective, formed in July of 2016.

Artist Boot Camp is an intensive designed from all the essentials Lucas has learned from his training as an actor, musician, writer, songwriter, and most of all, what he’s learned as a collaborator in the creation of art.

Each session is limited to 10 participants, who must all be able to commit to every day of their session.
