Job Description: The South Okanagan Performing Arts Centre Society will be convening a major 3-day Symposium in September of this year designed to find the best options for creating a new purpose-built creative and performing arts centre to be located in Penticton, BC, but serving the South Okanagan and well beyond. The design, construction, finance, programming and management of the facility will reflect the best contemporary thought and practice. The Symposium Director, will manage and oversee planning and implementation of the event, reporting to the Symposium Organizing Committee. Applicants will be responsible for event planning, including venue arrangements, publicity and communications, liaising with program participants, delegate management and use of contemporary audio-visual technologies.
Desired qualifications: Event organization/management experience, outstanding communication skills, IT skills, computer literacy, including event management software, and a talent for organizing complex events timely and efficiently. Familiarity with the performing arts world would be an asset.
Remuneration: For the most part the position is part-time, and be remunerated with a negotiated honorarium.
