Four Canada Summer Jobs for Students, 2017

Please pass this info along to any creative and enthusiastic university, college or post-secondary students you know. 

The historic Shatford Centre, Okanagan School of the Arts is being awarded four Canada Summer Job grants to hire Post Secondary students this summer as follows:

1) Event & Promotion Coordinator position will include work with graphics, design, publishing, branding, website development, social media and promotions. Experience with InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, social media will be assets.

2) Aboriginal Day & Creative Reconciliation Coordinator position will include work with the En’owkin Centre and the Shatford Centre to produce Aboriginal Day, being held June 21st and the installation of the Creative Reconciliations Exhibition that will be installed at the Shatford Centre from June 21st to September 15th, 2017. First nation candidates will be given priorities.  

3)  Creativity Camp Program Coordinator, to coordinate art activities, gardening basics and field trips in week-long camps for children and youth.  This position includes appreciation and expression of a wide variety of art forms and disciplines. Food safe certificate and previous experience will be assets.

4) Shatford Commons Demonstration Garden Coordinator will work with gardeners and volunteers to prepare soil, help create raised beds, plant vegetables/seeds, harvest and prepare food in the demonstration gardens.  This student will also work with children and youth. Food safe and garden experience are assets.


Post-secondary studies must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment and must have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year with intentions to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year

Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or person of whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: the position will run for 9 weeks at 35 hours per week at $12 per hour with a possible start as early as May 8th, 2017.
