This hands-on workshop with Tracy Proctor will consist of three intensive days of encaustic impressionism. Planning composition and colour studies, students will start with a good value drawing on a large birch panel.
Students will learn to create encaustic mono-prints to add layers of colour and rhythm in their painting. Layers are the key to making a painting come alive while still revealing a vibrant under-painting. Learn how divisionism, Non-finito and the power of a personal brushstroke are the keys to an impressionistic painting.
Bonus demo: Learn how your computer can assist in your planning, value and colour composition.
Supplies included as noted: students are encouraged to work on one large piece and complete 15-20 Mono-prints. Prior experience in basic encaustic painting is a requirement.
Tracy, a self-taught artist, teaches encaustic workshops throughout Western Canada. She is a certified R&F encaustic instructor and currently, the President of the Federation of Canadian Artists – Calgary Chapter.
